          George Roger Waters (born 6 September 1943) is an Englishrockmusician. He was born in Great Bookham, Surrey and moved to Cambridge during his early childhood.

          He is best known as the bass player, co-lead singer, principal lyricist, and founder member of the English rock band Pink Floyd (1964–1986). Waters became the main songwriter in Pink Floyd after Syd Barrett left in January 1968.

          He sang lead vocals on at least one half of all Pink Floyd tracks when he was with the band.
